[wtH] てめ !

Dammit my plans for Tokyo have hit a major snag.

Agency people advised me to get a darn visa before I buy tickets. Simply coz there is a 50-50 chance of getting a visa into Japan.

Reason? Lots of Msian supposedly masquerade as tourists then end up working there illegally. A visa and preparation etc means min 3 days. And the special promo fairs from MAS will go all over by then.

So this probably means charcoal burnt out Keen has to continue to slug it out :(

Arrrrrgh!!! Ku-Ra-Pu !!

[Self] Starbucks Junkie

Pic: Had one during the All Star Game.

Confession: I am a Starbucks junkie. I need a good cup of java to keep me alive. I cannot live without it. Don't blame the coffee, it's just me.

[Whoa!] Nice Few Days In BKK

For a change, the past few days in BKK was quite good recently. Finished up Tom Holt's "In Your Dreams" & Jim Butcher's "Dead Beat" (the Dresden Files series). Met up some friends, did some stuff (boat ride, checked out Grand Palace, listened to another con story, visited Wat Po again, afternoon nap, laundrey, walked around with a blister, managed to see Q3&Q4 of the NBA All Stars Game 2006, interviewed people, and survived a few terror rides). OK will let the pics do the talking.

Pic: Some protest stuff going at Lumpini Park.
Amazing how democracy is allowed to work in some countries.

- I am indeed incapable of posing properly ever!

So, no deep philosophical postings this time. But had an overall good time nevertheless.

[Work] Redundant

I should be flooded with meaningful work up to my armpits were it not for this evasive pogo stick requirement crap & baby-sitting diaper changing routine the client side has got me stuck to.

Make a decision dammit. Flip a coin, use a magic 8 ball or something - just make a freaking decision. Get some backbone too!

[Whoa!] Chap Goh Meh 2006

A friend told me about some orange throwing event in Taman Jaya.

Pic: Earlier on around 7-ish
Being the culturally detached Chinapek that I was, I thought it would be an interesting experience to hang around and see what transpired on the typical "Pau Kam" day.
Pic: Rakan Muda and some folks organized it I think. A rather cute logo I have to say. Though I was not there to Pau Kam :)

Was there prob for an hour. Stalls were set up selling Kam for RM2 a piece; RM3 for writing a note and attaching it as a sail to a small boat; some dancers looking bored; and lots & lots of families trickling into Taman Jaya park.

There was a section featuring a short Lion Dance every 15 mins; and another section with this green zone with lots of "谜语" (puzzles) not sure what was that really about.

Pic: But couldn't find a trace of Heineken anywhere :D

Pic: Two "Soh Chai"s side by side. The one of the LHS prob has an IQ score twice higher than the one on the RHS

Took pics here and there overall badly taken due to night shots (should've gotten the darn Nikon D50) but nothing happened. Event stalled probably due to some late officials I guess. Left didn't want to wait any longer but overall kindof interesting way to spend the evening.

[wtH] Darn Alarm System

Once in a while when I am back in Msia office and come in over the weekends - I trigger this bloody alarm system.

Yesterday - I came in and set it off really early in the morning.

Today - Had to drop in 7th floor before coming up to the 8th. It's about 1830hrs now. Set both off at each floor. Right now, with this gila ultradecible piercing sound, and I can feel my right eardrum thumping! I'm stuck getting some essentials done hopefully I am not deaf by then. Why the heck didn't it run out of batteries or wailing power since it was set off yesterday >_<

[Self] Impression of Chinese Blogs

I've gone through many blogs of friends and colleagues that are written in Chinese.

I am not sure why - but Chinese blogs tend to have that ”散文“ feel. They tend to be more self reflective, soul baring. Words with used in a more impeccable sense with multi-context to them. Structures used to construct the sentences, and how they are played off against words, other structures and sentences.

Maybe my "中文" sucks, so even some meagerly passing off as decent Chinese is poetic to me. But I really find these blog authors talented and the content simply delightful to read. :)

[WhatNext] In & Out

Moved in partially and now I'm moving out. It was nice while it was mine to use for a while.

Pics: Some evidence of life not so intelligent!

To some of the friends who dropped by - hey thanks it was nice having ye around!

[Whoa!] Good CNY 2006

Here's a whole bunch of pics: I really had a good CNY that distinguished itself from the many I've had over the years.

A lot of things to be thankful for: Family, close friends, old friends haven't seen in ages, new friends, weird events, fun, laughter, good food, fine wine, booz (controlled), bad singing, guy-talk, got shot (paint pellets), some peace of mind to chill and be happy, New Nikes & an ankle guard ... the former being an absolute 100% necessity ;), and of course - fickle clients which is why I had an extension 1 week stay in Msia!

I did miss Ah Kong terribly though. Did a quick prayer for him, I am sure the rest of the clan did so too in their own way.

[Self] Hoop Prayers

Basketball has always provided sanctuary - be it an actual game or just shooting hoops.

The court is the temple, and the rim is the altar. Still love Basketball after all these years but I have not really found the opportunity to offer my respects as much as I would have liked to. Seriously would love to pray more to the God of Hoops; but work is tough even if enjoyable, therefore free time is an excellent example of the finite.

Still, I am lucky to have had a few games recently.
- A few weeks ago, played some. End Result: Scored some buckets, sprained a finger and twisted an ankle. But it actually felt good!
- Shot hoops in a half court somewhere in KL. Ankle still hurt, but it was shooting accuracy that mattered.

Gotten worse due to lack of practice but not that bad yet I hope. Still "somewhat decent" with some perimetre shots; still terrible with anything else. Gotta go out more and just shoot more often.

[Humour] Frasier Theme Song

Finally! Some clarity on that Frasier Theme Song (at the end):

Hey baby, I hear the blues a-callin'
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs

Oh My Mercy (Alternative: Quite Stylish)

And maybe I seem a bit confused,
Yeah maybe, but I got you pegged!

Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha!

But I don't know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs. They're callin' again.

Alternative Endings:
1 - They're callin' again.
2 - Good night, Seattle, we love you.
3 - What is a boy to do. Good night.
4 - Frasier has left the building.
5 - Thank You!
6 - Scambled eggs all over my face. What is a boy to do. Goodnight, everybody.
7 - See you next year, we love ya.
