[BBall] Heat Wave 2005/06

It's gonna be a scorching season ahead. This is the year of the Heat! Heat is gonna burn everything down to the ground, and season 2005/06 is just a formality to hand over the trophy to the Heat.

Why the others will fail
- Love that mean defense but this year don't belong to the Pistons. It's fate don't argue.
- Rockets - limbo team in neutral gear - can't do much coz even if McGrady sizzles, Yao Ming's too stiff and cannot contribute no matter how many jerseys he sells - Hakeem he is not.
- The Suns were hot in offense last year, but roll over the Heat will dominate tempo and temperature!
- Timberwolves how could you screw up so badly over the past 2 years ... and with all that talent?! I howl in dissapointment Cassell and Sprewell should have been better for Garnett. Couldn't even secure the playoffs last year :(
- Dammit Spurs are damn strong and you can't hate them for being good. But I will dare to dismiss them this year.

Weird I am supporting Shaq in Heat coz I really disliked him when he was in Lakers; but then again I thought his combo with Penny back in Magic was awesome.

Heat also has Dwane Wade whom I managed to catch a few of his games last season (awesome!); Zo - who deserves a ring; Eddie Jones - who I thought was always good but has been bounced around teams; Payton just got on board too (but not sure about how well this will work), and that strategist Pat Riley (still think that Miami-NY tussle years back was a deliberate tactic that worked)!

Heat vs Spurs in 6.

  • The Bulls reached the pinnacle of basketballdom by winning 2 separate three-peat championships.

Era 1 was defined by MJ and Pippen, with folks like John Paxson, Bill Cartwright, Horrace Grant, BJ Armstrong & Will Purdue.

Era 2 was defined by folks like MJ and Pippen, Toni Kukoc, Dennis Rodman, Luc Longley, Steve Kerr, Ron Harper & Brian Williams.

After Era 2, most of the Bulls went their separate ways. The Bulls today are "rebuilding".

To me, the 90s was the Golden Era of basketball ~ grew up watching great performers and atheletes compete, but after that the NBA became somewhat boring. That this coincided with Jordan retiring (for the second time)is totally relevant.

A slew of hereos that defined basketball greatness in the 90s have either since retired ("The Mailman" Malone, Stockton, Drexler, Ewing, Hakeem, Sir Charles, David "The Admiral" Robinson, Reggie Miller) or are in the twilights of the careers (Horry, Payton, Alonzo).

For the many that have simply deliquesced, there are those whose ghosts wander from team to team and serve a higher purpose of butt-warming the bench - think those who have fallen so far from grace -think Penny Hardaway, Steve Smith and even Vlade Divac.
