[wtH] Subservient Chicken

I think it had to do with bumping into my old boss back in the days I used to do interactive, but I just suddenly had to check out if The Subservient Chicken was still online or not.

This IMHO is still one of the most original ideas in integrating technical capability (not high end, just focusing on the capability) and being able to put such a creative spin on it. Still stands out as one of the best interactive campaigns ever although it is perhaps close to 5 years old already.

A good friend commented that he had not hear me gripe for a while. Been too busy for a while so all the griping was in my mind but not onto new media / paper. But here goes:

[Msia] 2 More Hours

It's about 2200hrs now, and another 2 more hours to 16Sept2008 which is "D-Day" for the so called mass defection of politicos from BN to Pakatan. I'm just gonna put down some fiction on what I imagine the players are up to right now ...

>>> FICTION ONLY OK <<<

Pak Lah:
There he sits in the Putrajaya HQ office. He glances out through a window, although he knows night has fallen and it is dark with a cold stilliness. But he finds the darkness a form of solemnity, it envelopes Putrajaya to match the emptiness he feels inside. He was the nice guy who tried to do things right but it just didn't seem to work out.

He feels another wave of self pittance and allows himself to soak in a few minutes of self doubt. Since the ISA fiasco and all that UMNO turmoil, there's been no end to the attacks on his good self. He only meant the best of intentions but how did it get so out of control?

He sighs and tries to focus on the paperwork on his desk, may as well continue to do some of the outstanding work after all. He picks up a pen to sign some documents, and make some footnotes on some document with the watermark "Sulit"; but before he does so, he stares out at the window again ...

Anwar Ibrahim:
Backstage at Stadium Kelana Jaya, the speeches of his surrogates echo beyond the stadium. The crowd roars in approval at every synonym of "change" the Pakatan reps can think of... It's not his turn to step out yet - no way, he can't let them see him yet, the anxiety and thirst to see him stand up on stage to make some declaration has to build itself up, the momentum is just starting.

But that's not the only reason why he is making them wait. "Dammit", he thinks but doesn't mutter, as he checks at his cellphone to make sure the "connection bar" is still at full, "Why haven't the runners called to confirm the defections yet". He wants to be able to declare the switch during his speaking slot if possible in just a few moments, despite him knowing he can play the media like the silly insignifcant fiddles they all are.

"Was there some last minute change?!". He worries and a frown forms across his face. But he notices some aides looking at him and he is conscious of the need to project optimism & that sense of charismatic leadership. He forces a chuckle and gives the aides a deflective explanation .. "Just a bit tired lah, brudda." and smiles. The aides are relieved and smile back, then they go about their business backstage.

Anwar clasps his hands together and exhales into them. He has rolled his dice, and he's played his last card. "Will they, or will they not?", he wonders deeply.

[Msia] Truly Asia ....

Read about the many disturbing news of what's happened today, and then there came this TV ad about Msia and some golden celebration where a bunch of kids were singing some overcoated sugary song about Msia being "Truly Asia".

Gimme a break lah!
