[Self] More To Do

Recently achieved something but not without much sacrifice; and even then it was not enough.

Anyway - serves as a grim reminder there is a lot more to do. Just gotta grit teeth and gambatte.

[Self] 初三

Midnight: After an intro to saty and paprik ayam - took ol' Mokers Fox and his gf Ronnie for a drink at TGI's

Morning: Breakfast with family, loose end chores

Noon: Steamboat with Lionel and Michelle, caught up with Adrian, Sabrina and Megan

Afternoon: Got my arse kicked many rounds in Dragon Ball (PS2)

Evening: Dinner with Jittos & family, and Wyn Nee and Ji Yin

Night: All fired up to get Rumpole Omnibus 2 but it was all sold out dammit >> Wandered into the Chinese section and that tremendous sense of guilt set in again >> Resolved to not lose ability to read and write Chinese (again) >> Somehow ended up buying a hundred bucks worth of comics

Night: Watched "The Protege" - it was pretty lame the director could not decide if he wanted to make it an undercover cop show or a preachy drug abuse story so eventually it was a bad mixture of both

Midnight: Won ONE round of Dragon Ball ~~ Kame-Kame-Ha!!

[Self] 2 Old Movies

Someone once commented I am an old soul - darn true.

Just bought 2 oldies:
- Rio Bravo ~ John Wayne and Dean Martin (never watched before)
- Woman of The Year ~ Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy (watched it when I was in college once upon a time - loved it)

I'm still looking for the "Road To" series with Bing Crosby and Bob Hope. I did see a set once but it was 200SGD. Let me know if there's a cheaper set around.

[Work] Another SFE

Real life story - just happened about 15 mins ago ... So I'm pacing up and down 2 restaurants just opposite where I work (it's my 5-min lunch routine). Both are mixed rice places, and nothing is appetizing (surprise surprise).

Eventually I force myself to the one selling more dishes. Still nothing is appetizing. Something does catch my eye, so:
I ask the hawker, "Is that chicken or fish"?
He answers, "Pork". (It really did not look like pork in any way so it never did cross my mind)

Another SFE for the archives!

To be fair, hawkers here are genuinely courteous and a nice bunch. But that still doesn't obscure the reality of how food is made here. The "Zha Zhiang Ban Mee" SFE is the best of reference cases.

Note: SFE = Singapore Food Episode.
