[wtH] X-Men 3

Ever since the CG genre hit the screens (as far as I can remember probably Jurassic Park started it), we've been served movies like Matrix and Spider Man 1 which managed to mould the wonders of CG with decent storylines.

But just like how Steven Seagal and Jean Claude movies marred action movies in the 90s, the recent CG-heavy movies are simply crap. Special effects aside, their plots are nonexistant and one dimensional.

Which is why I've avoided CG movies like a plague - even the heavily promoted X-Men 3. Let's say there are 16 characters and 90 mins of action time to squeeze them in.... with the exception of Wolverine who will hog the screen from start to end, each character has an average of 5.5 mins to display their powers during the duration of the "storyline". If you've seen v1 and v2, you should know what I mean.

So, I spent the day watching "Nixon" instead. It was one long, painstakingly dry political commentry-failed artistic gumbo show, but heck at least there was an attempt to make the viewer empathize and revile Nixon at the same time.

BUT that was until I just found out Kelsey Grammar played "Beast". Now .... Frasier in a blue furry suit? That I gotta see ;)

[Whoa!] Playoff Conference Finals 2006

It's gonna be a good Western and Eastern Conf Finals this year. Looking at Mavs vs Suns; and Heat vs Pistons. The ideal clashes of all clashes from Conf Finals to the Grand Finals.

I'm entertaining the thought of Mavs vs Heat this year. But regardless - whichever team meets the other in the Finals, it's gonna be damn entertaining.

But crap basically nobody in Msia even watches BBall at all these days. If you randomly click on all 3 sports channels on Astro anytime - I'd daresay:
... 20% of the time you can get 3 of 3 channels showing football
... 75% of the time you can get 2 of 3 channels showing football

Bloody Hell Outright Hoop Marginalization or what?!?!

[Self] Post Dinner Geek Activity

Had dinner with my parents - it's just a BLOM thing at this point in life I guess. After that was browsing around the magazine shop and recalled a nice piece of advice a good friend once gave me - just randomly buy a magazine that you typically wouldn't buy.

So I guess that's why I'm gonna be flipping thru "Military Heritage Presents - WWII History" for July 2006, with some cover titles:
- "Patton's Defeat at Fort Driant"
- "Battle of the Burmese Frontier"
- "Eyewitness on Bloody Tarawa"
- "Bombing The Reich"

And coincidently, I am listening to an audiobook called "The Conquerors" which is a refreshing departure from WWII war stories. It focuses on how Roosevelt & Truman played a hand in altering German society with a couple of things in mind - to counter Soviet Union's influence, and to ensure that Germany would not become a warmonging nation again (just like how it rose in the 1930s after 1918).

Geek time!! ;)

[wtH] Dammit! Playoff Woes

How could Miami Heat possibly be at 2-2 in Round 1 of the Playoffs?! Against the Chicago Bulls who are just merely in rebuilding?!

And how could the Phoenix Suns be trailing 1-3 against Lakers?! Though I have to say the LA Lakers' Game 3 plays were somewhat reminiscant to how the Chicago Bulls (Jordan Era) used to play the triangle. But they're the Suns dammit!!

This is crap. I'm a jinx. Better stop rooting for a team already.... ughhh.....
